Sucker Punch, a somewhat bizarre movie

Sucker PunchLast Friday Amazon delivered Sucker Punch on Blu-ray so last evening we sat down and watched it. It’s definitely a bizarre movie. Not that one should be very surprised though given that the director, Zack Snyder, have such movies as Watchmen, 300 and Dawn of the Dead on his CV.

Normally I do not mind when a movie is a wee bit bizarre but I definitely had some problems getting adjusted to this one. A fairly thin plot line was loosely tied together with fairly wild fantasy-action scenes taking place in the dreams of the main actor. During the course of the film we managed to cover huge Gatling-gun wielding stone Samurais, steam driven Nazi zombies (seriously, what the fuck?), Orc-ridden castles and dragons to finish off with some Sci-Fi stuff.

Nah, I cannot say that this was one of the best movies I’ve seen. At least it was a somewhat original work and it was well executed with good action scenes, although bordering on the ridiculous, which is why it still gets an Okay rating.
