Harry Potter, end of the line

We weren’t able to resists the kids harping about seeing it more than a day after we got the last instalment of the Harry Potter saga, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, on Blu-ray from Amazon last Thursday. Thus we sat down and watched it last evening.

Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2So, that was the end of that, end of the series, the bad guy is dead and the hero walks off in the sunset. Unfortunately we never got to see if they repaired Hogwarts again after that mess they made of it at the end. Also I really, really dislike that silly, but all too common plot element, stuff where he breaks the Elder Wand because it’s too powerful.

It’s a very good film however with good special effects. However I still feel the series is just a little overhyped. I also still like the earlier instalments better with their lighter and more upbeat mood. Those feels more like the family films that I think these films should be.

Picture and sound-wise the disk was excellent. Not very surprising given the fact that it’s a high profile film on Blu-ray. They still use a 6.1 mix for the DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack which I find somewhat surprising. They should have gone the extra quarter mile to put a full 7.1 track on it.
