CERN Data Centre passes 100 petabytes

CERN Data CentreWell I do work as a computer engineer at CERN after all so I guess I should make some publicity for the laboratory once in a while and an article on the CERN web site recently kind of gives me an opportunity to do just that.

As the title states, CERN Data Centre now stores more than 100 petabytes of data. For those of you who want to know more click on the link above. For those of you who want the short version: 100 petabytes is roughly equivalent to 700 years worth of full quality high definition movies. It might be worth noting that 75% of this data was collected during the last 3 years of LHC running.
