Today we had crayfish for lunch. Unfortunately we could not get our hands on the real stuff, like the ones that are shown in the photo, but we had to use the American “mudbugs” instead. At least they were cooked in the proper Swedish way and served with bread, Swedish cheese and elk sausage. The cheese and sausage were also the “substitute” variety that you find in Ikea but it was so long since we had proper crayfish that we were quite happy with these lesser products.
The only one complaining was Cassandra but then she always complains when something new and unusual is on the menu. Since it was no surprise my dear wife had prepared hot-dogs for the two youngest ones but in the end it was only Cassandra who chickened out on the crayfish.
